SCOUTING: An Introduction

What is Cub Scouting?

Cub Scouting provides fun and challenging activites that promote character development and personal fitness.  Service projects, ceremonies, games and events provide opportunities to recognize effort and personal achievement.  Cub Scouts learn honesty and respect as they build relationships with other boys, parents, and leaders.

What are the requirements to join Cub Scouts?

Boys from 1st through 5th grade may join Cub Scouts. You do not need to be enrolled at Abercrombie Academy (our chartered organization) to join our Pack 382!

How many meetings are there?

There is one den meeting every month - due to our small unit size, our den activities covers all age-groups, with slight modifications to account for age level.

What are the responsibilities of a parent?

-Provide help and support for the pack and den.
-Work with your son on advancement projects and activities.
-Attend pack meetings with your son.
-Present his achievement awards to him at pack meetings.
-Attend and assist at den meetings and outings as needed.

Do Cub Scouts Camp?

Yes, but they work up to it. They may camp with a parent or their family.

If every boy in the United States could be placed under the wholesome influences ofthe Scout program and should live up to the Scout Oath and rules, we would hear fewerpessimistic words as to the future of our nation. Not only is it based on the fundamentalrules of right thinking and acting, but it seems to embrace in its code almost every virtueneeded in the personal and social life of mankind.
